Internal Victories: Film Screening and Q&A
Event details
Join us for a screening of the documentary Internal Victories (Wavelength Films), which follows composer Michael Betteridge and pianist Clare Hammond as they co-create pieces for solo piano with prisoners at HMP Oakwood in Staffordshire. This inspiring and insightful film shows how music can be a tool for building community regardless of setting, acting as a powerful agent of hope, connection and transformation.
After the screening, Clare Hammond will perform music from the project and will be joined by Michael Betteridge for a Q&A, hosted by University of York Associate Lecturer Emily Crossland.
This project was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, as well as grants from The Gloucestershire Piano Trust, The Marchus Trust and Leigh Day Solicitors.
