The Assembled

You are invited to bathe in the mysterious sonorities and mystical theatricality of Sciarrino, with the legendary Frances-Marie Uitti. Frances-Marie is strongly associated with Italian music and has collaborated closely with Nono and Scelsi, as well as Cage, Tenney and Globokar. She comes to York to join Catherine Laws, Loré Lixenberg and the experimental music ensemble The Assembled in an Italian programme based around Sciarrino’s extraordinary Vanitas, performed by the Trio, with video projections created by Singaporean multimedia artist Lynette Quek. The programme also includes new commissions from York’s own Gaia Blandina and guest composer Elia Moretti – from Sicily and Milan, respectively – with a contribution from Italian-inspired Nick Huggins, a pupil of Vinko Globokar.
