Come and Sing with Robert Hollingworth
Event details
Robert Hollingworth leads an afternoon of singing on repertoire from I Fagiolini’s fortieth-anniversary programme (to be performed in York on Wednesday 11 February), which will include Thomas Weelkes’ bittersweet madrigal Noel, adieu, thou court’s delight, Victoria’s highly personal setting of Alma Redemptoris Mater and Joanna Marsh’s darkly comic Geocentric (co-commissioned by I Fagiolini for their Re-Wilding The Waste Land programme in 2021). Join University of York Choir members and one of the country’s leading choral directors for an inspiring afternoon of singing, culminating in an informal performance to round off the day. Scores will be provided, but please bring your own if you can.
Afternoon schedule:
• 1.30pm: arrival and score collection
• 2pm: workshop begins
• 5.15pm: informal performance
A limited number of free tickets may be available for non-participants who wish to come to hear the final sing-through from 5.15-6pm. Please contact the Box Office for more details.
'For our fortieth-anniversary programme, We’re not dead yet, I have chosen the music that I Fagiolini has most enjoyed singing over recent years: brilliant invention, character and harmony in perfect miniatures. Come and join us before the concert to get to know three of these pieces from the inside.’ - Robert Hollingworth
