Eternal Source of Light Divine

Yorkshire Baroque Soloists celebrates its 50th anniversary at the beginning of 2023. Formed by three members of the Department of Music at the University of York – Yvonne Seymour (soprano), John Wallace (trumpet) and Peter Seymour (harpsichord and organ), the ensemble has continued to focus on repertoire for voice, trumpet and other instruments.

This impressive programme presents some of the spectacular repertoire that has been associated with the ensemble since it was founded in 1973. There are two of the most famous and popular cantatas for soprano, trumpet and strings alongside the increasingly familiar Eternal Source of Light Divine. This glorious Italian-influenced programme brings together three of the greatest composers of the early eighteenth century and showcases two of Bach’s most popular examples of the newly fashionable concerto form.

‘This excellent performance ranks among the best’ (BBC Music Magazine)
