The Elephant in the Room
The Chimera Ensemble’s spring concert draws inspiration from the famous British idiom the elephant in the room. Featuring works that contain a societal message or meaning that goes beyond the score, their programme features Julius Eastman’s Stay On It alongside an exciting collaboration with the Eboracum String Quartet in Yaz Lancaster’s Neutral Objects.
The Chimera Ensemble – the UK's largest student-run contemporary music ensemble – is renowned for its adventurous programming. They often give the first UK performances of pieces by leading international composers as well as new commissions. In their second concert of our 2021/22 season, they present a programme of music by some of today’s most exciting composers alongside new works by student composers.
