Loré Lixenberg  mezzo-soprano

Internationally acclaimed composer and mezzo-soprano Loré Lixenberg presents Conlon Nancarrow’s Studies for Player Piano – the rhythmic complexities of which famously outstrip the ability of human performers – in her own unique arrangement for voice. She combines pre-recorded parts in surround sound with a part that she sings live to produce a multifarious and immersive experience. As Lixenberg explains, ‘when you perform the rolls “live” you get the mechanical inevitability of the pre-recorded voices with the visceral excitement of witnessing someone attempting the dizzying complex polyrhythms in the moment.’
