Antigone
Performance
Event details
With its modern and positive themes – a young female protagonist takes on the patriarchy – Antigone speaks to us today just as much as it did to the citizens of Ancient Greece at its first performance in around 441 BCE. This year’s Practical Project – which involves all new first-year students, as well as other undergraduates, in a large-scale music theatre production – sees a new performance version of the Greek tragedy Antigone, with music composed by the students and a new text by York-based composer Jon Hughes.
