In the second of their two concerts as part of this year's York New Music Weekend, The Chimera Ensemble – the University’s student-run new music ensemble – presents new works by composers, many of whom are connected to Yorkshire and the North East, alongside student works. The concert celebrates contemporary music, from Pauline Oliveros’s deep listening practice to modern-day explorations of the practice, as well as premieres of new works by some of today's most exciting composers. The programme explores time, colour, texture and fabric, all of which are prominent in the first of The Chimera Ensemble’s concerts as part of this year's York New Music Weekend. From Linda Catlin-Smith’s irregularly spaced Knotted Silk to Nicholas Peters’ rhythmic force, this performance sees the Ensemble inhabit an exhilarating array of sound worlds!
Ticket holders will be able to watch this concert on demand for three weeks after the initial broadcast.
