During vacations, you may book online or by post while the Box Office is closed for personal booking.
At the Box Office during opening hours. During afternoon opening, tickets will be sold from the Box Office in the Department of Music entrance hall. In the evening the box office for the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall and the Rymer Auditorium is situated in the concert hall entrance in the Music Research Centre.
At other venues, including Central Hall, box office facilities are available from 45 minutes before the concert begins.
Click the 'Buy Now' button next to the concert of your choice on the What's On page or at the foot of each concert page to go to our secure, online booking service. You can choose your seat for most concerts via the interactive seat plan.
Call 01904 322439 Monday to Friday during opening hours and on Saturdays when there is a concert. If you get a recorded message it is because the Box Office is busy; please leave your contact details and your call will be returned as soon as possible. There is a non-refundable £1.50 administration charge for telephone bookings.
Please write with full details of the tickets that you require together with your address and daytime telephone number. Enclose a cheque (made payable to: University of York) with a stamped, addressed envelope or add £1.00 to cover postage.
Reservations are held for three working days or until 20 minutes before the start of the performance, whichever is the sooner. Please note that we reserve the right not to take reservations within three days of a concert.
We accept Visa and Mastercard cards (there is no charge for this facility). Please note that we are unable to take card payments at external venues. Cheques should be made payable to: University of York.
£3, £5 pr £7 for most concerts for students in full-time education. Please bring a valid NUS or student card when buying or collecting tickets or when presenting a print-at-home ticket.
Under 16s are entitled to a free ticket when accompanied by an adult (one per adult full price or concession ticket bought). This offer is not available online. The student ticket price applies for additional tickets for under 16s and for seats in the Front Nave of York Minster.
Staff and former students of the University of York are entitled to a 20% discount on events promoted by the University. Booking conditions apply and this offer cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts.
Concessions are available to over 65s, recipients of means-tested benefits and audience members with a disability.
For customers with disabilities who need to bring an essential carer to concerts, we offer two concession tickets at a 50% discount. If you register for this scheme by providing proof of status, the discount can be applied automatically when you book. Please contact the Box Office if you would like to register or require more information.
Buy nine tickets for any one concert and receive one further ticket free! All tickets must be booked in advance at the same time. School and college groups pay the student ticket price and receive a free ticket for a teacher/carer with every six tickets purchased.
We are not able to give refunds for unwanted tickets. If the event sells out we will endeavour to resell any unwanted tickets if returned in advance, subject to a handling fee of £2.00 per transaction.
Please note that if a concert in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall sells out, we may put extra chairs in front of the first row of fixed seats.
All mobile devices must be switched off during performances and the unauthorised use of any cameras or other recording equipment is prohibited.
The consumption of alcohol is permitted inside the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall only at the discretion of the Duty Manager; the foyer is fully licenced. Consumption of alcohol in the Rymer and Central Hall is not permitted.
