Fausto Romitelli     Blood on the Floor, Painting

The Chimera Ensemble’s final concert of this 2017/18 series is split between the Rymer Auditorium and the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, and features an eclectic mix of contemporary works. Inspired by Francis Bacon’s notably unsettling painting of the same name, Blood on the Floor, Painting is a brooding and violent piece. Mobile, for prepared solo piano, describes an imaginary mechanical sculpture, and The New Normal looks at the current political situation in America. The concert also features Professor Roger Marsh’s expressive and gestural work, Running, Jumping and Standing Still, and Andriessen’s energetic and violent piece, Workers Union, as well as new works by student composers.
